DR. TARA MORIARTY JOINS THE FACULTY OF DENTISTRY

Dr. Tara Moriarty will join the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto on Monday, August 30, 2010. Tara comes from the University of Calgary where she conducted post-doctoral training. Her research interests are in the area of Hematogenous Dissemination Mechanisms of Pathogenic Spirochetes. Her areas of research expertise include cell biology, biochemistry, genetics and microbiology.

CONGRATULATIONS TO CHARLES GODBOUT

Dr. Charles Godbout from the Laboratory of Tissue Repair and Regeneration has received a three-year CIHR Post-doctoral fellowship for his project: Regulation of myofibroblast contraction: implication of calcium ions and the mechanical environment.

CONGRATULATIONS TO RICHARD ELLEN

May 22, 2010. Matrix Dynamics Group investigator Richard Ellen was granted an honorary Doctor of Medicine degree by Linkoping University, Sweden, in recognition of his contributions to health research, his 30 years of collaborating with Swedish investigators and his leadership in promoting international collaboration in research training. The citation identified Richard as a "Sweden-friendly" professor, who has shown enthusiasm for Swedish culture, with a Swede's penchant for the physical activities cross-country skiing and swimming, as well as excellence in the Swedish language.

Richard is now retired from the University of Toronto.
